Florida fish growers are constantly developing new species of fish that are unique to the state. Our studies include the first captive-breeding of fish previously exclusively available from the wild, such as cardinal tetras and the pretty plecostomus. Our growers have also developed new swordtail color varieties. Hundreds of new fish have been introduced to the hobby by Florida fish breeders!

Greenness

Fish production in Florida is mostly a "Green" and long-term enterprise. In our pond production, we rely on natural resources such as sun and water, as well as the benefits of soils and natural foods.

Great Farms, Great Fish

Large or small, Florida fish farms range from high-tech indoor facilities to simple earthen fish ponds. The Florida Department of Agriculture's Division of Aquaculture manages the industry and licenses fish farms to guarantee that every producer fulfills health, water quality, environmental protection, and accountability criteria, regardless of the kind of operation.
